I am 17 attending a usual school in Indiana. I have, as many of us have, come to realize something...We are FORCED to attend school. school is a prison to hold children until it is convient for parents for us to be let out.
The definition of slave is "someone that is forced to work against their own free will". The definition of student is "someone who is forced to learn against their own free will". These similarities are too obvious to me. Also students are the last minority of America..We are one of the only repressed groups left, we have no rights. The majority of students can't even vote and yet many of us work and pay taxes. Here is something you learned in your history class "no taxation without representation". The education system need to be changed completly...People should not be forced from theur homes at the tender age of five to be bombarded with information the will only desensitize us to the destructive nature of impearilism. We are all programmed to live in this system but there is another way. Respond to this is you are behind me and let me hear your voice and ideas.

You have a good point..., Tuesday, 25 October 2011
You have a good point but i think you are aiming to small, if we weren't forced to go to school we would fail to survive in today's society, there for it is not the education system that has to be changed, it is society, have you ever seen the film 'Accepted' well i think that school should be like that, basically we choose what to learn (btw, i recommend you watch it, it's a great film and it inspires me to broaden my horizons and learn new and interesting things. I think you plan would be flawed if we didn't change society and i personal quite like school, but i agree that things have to change.

The thought was good. But I don't think it's right to compare students to slaves. True we don't get paid for going to school (for our work) but not only did slaves not get paid, neither did indentured servants. I think we SHOULD be forced to go to school, but curriculums should be made more interesting, more relevant to our everyday life. We shouldn't be bored. We should feel safe at school. People need to stop bullying and harassing fellow students. Also schools (public) need better funding to offer better supplies, clubs and sports teams. Sports and other interests (drama, debate, activism, etc.) are just as important for a person's devlopment. Bottom line: Comparing a student to a slave is a bad comparison. We aren't whipped, we can worship however we wish, we are allowed to learn how to read and write, and most of us have better living conditions than slaves. Actually I'd say ALL of us live better than slaves. But it's an interesting thought. And I personlayy do think students should be paid to go to school, it's our job.
