women's rights...dead soem say. not necessary. what about the media portraying women as sex-toys and must-be skinny airheads? what about the hushed embarassed tone associated with the word.....(shhh - period!. its time to change away from the nearly forced plucked eyebrows make up anorexia shaved legs stealthily hidden tampons and terms like slut whore bitch skank. listen to any rap song playing on the radio today and hear blatant suppression, bashing, and sexing of women. whether its singing the joy of beating your wife, or simply a tune commanding a girl to shake her ass and tits for the benifit of the men. our media constantly feeds us examples of women as objects used for the pleasure of men. the unecisary shame we put up with for having a vagina and a period is completely ludicrous and out-dated. its time to grow up. this isnt the middle-ages anymore people!

I don't agree with all of this woman right stuff. I do believe we deserve rights, hell yes we do, but chic, we have them! So what if there are half naked chics in every music video! Those woman are choosing to exploit themselves like that! They have that choice, and personally, i would not choose it, but that explains why i so not. You complain about woman rights, but what about the different minorities that are so far below us women it is ridiculous! We are in no way a needy minority. There are several laws protecting our rights, but as for homosexuals, trans-genders, other races, and so on, we women really need to just look at what we have! We can do anything, hell, a woman ran for president! What is it we need help with again?!

And as for periods being hushed, every commercial i see pretty much is for tampons and pads. and people don't all use tampons for hiding, i personally use one because i don't find it sanitary to sit on a pad full of dead eggs all day.

Do we all agree that what was started as womens lib is slowly dissinegrating because no one knows the definition of the word feminist? When spoken people think that it means women HATE men and we're ABOVE them. It means we want and deserve equal rights for both sides. How did it get so twisted. Feminists aren't one type of woman. We can range from lesbians to suburban mothers. From addicts to church goes. We are everywhere. We are a diverse group of women trying to keep the other confused women afloat.

I completely agree. We women need to make our voices heard. We shouldn't be embarrased about the stuff that goes on in our bodies and the media needs to present more realistic images such as body size and color. Why are only skinny white girls (no offense to white girls but we need some diversity!) on TV shows, especially for teens. Adult shows are more diverse, but teen shows not so much. Also what's wrong with being a feminist? Nothing. Ladies stand up for yourselves and your sisters! Take charge of your life, get involved in politics or business or science or technology. Change the world! I was upset by the fact that until this journal entry there were none on women's rights. I'm ashamed that I've never really actively worked to improve women's rights, but now one way I do fight for woemn's rights is by volunteering with the Obama campiagn. Obama respects a woman's right to choose and believes we all deserve equal pay! I encourage everyone to read The Leadership Gap by Marie Wilson.
